Tunable Diode Laser (TDL) Gas Sensors
PSI’s high precision CO2 sensor (silver box, center) deployed at University of New Hampshire’s Thompson Farm Atmospheric Observatory
Tunable Diode Laser Gas Sensors are typically in situ sensors that take advantage of robust and mature telecom components in order to offer high precision, high accuracy, and highly selective detection of trace gases with application to a variety of commercial, industrial, defense and environmental problems. PSI has also pioneered the application of TDL sensing to measurements of temperature, pressure, velocity, and mass flux.
Example PSI products include:
- Oxygen sensor – measures residual oxygen in applications from aviation fuel tanks to sealed head spaces in pharmaceutical packaging
- CO2 sensor – monitors ambient CO2 levels to high precision (~0.1 ppmv)
- Combustion sensors – measures combinations of O2, H2O, CO, CO2, NO, NO2, and temperature in applications ranging from internal combustion engines to industrial heating furnaces
- Mass flux sensors – measures the density and velocity of air or exhaust products for optimizing performance of air-breathing combustion systems such as aircraft engines or automobiles.
