Tactical Products

Deployable Man-Portable Antennas
PSI produces high gain antennas that fold into a cargo pocket using a combination of advanced materials and manufacturing. They unfold in less than a second to provide broadband (150 MHz to 3 GHz) communications on the move with a low-profile antenna.
reel
The REEL, Rapid Emergency Evacuation Litter is a revolutionary, lightweight evacuation litter/stretcher specifically designed to meet the needs of tactical field care. It is the lightest and most compact quad folding litter ever made.

ISR Systems

InstantEye®; is a high-performance, low-cost aerial system that can be hand-launched, flown and hand-recovered by a single person in any weather. With a range over 1 kilometer, configurable payloads, and combat system design, InstantEye® is the tactical small unmanned aerial system available today.
Tagging, Tracking, and Locating Tools
PSI has developed a range of low-cost passive and semi-active tagging tracking and locating tools for use in tracking uncooperative targets, marking and navigation, and IFF applications. These capabilities are enabled by unique applications of quantum dots, luminescent chemistry, and hyperspectral imaging of thin films.

Laser Based Sensors

PSI QCL-based CO sensor
QCL sensors use mid-infrared semiconductor laser sources, either intraband Quantum Cascade Lasers or Interband Cascade Lasers to enable high precision, high accuracy, and selective detection of trace gases such as greenhouse gases and chemical agents with application to a variety of commercial, industrial, defense and environmental problems.
Low-Cost Magnetometer
Magnetometers find applications in a wide range of Geophysical exploration and environmental sensing systems. PSI’s extensive background in optical sensor phenomenology, including optically pumped alkali atom magnetometers, creates opportunities to develop specialty magnetometers for demanding applications.
GasScan™ is PSI’s single board platform utilized in multiple TDL sensor products. It is a complete Wavelength Modulation Spectroscopy system on a single 6” x 6” battery-powered circuit board. It includes laser control, data processing and communications yet draws less than 1 W.
TDLAS based water vapor mass flow rate monitor
Our pharmaceutical products target aseptic fill/finish manufacturing applications including manufacturing operations that utilize barrier isolators and lyophilization, often used to process the fastest growing segment of the pharmaceutical industry, biopharmaceuticals.
Tunable Diode Laser (TDL) Gas Sensors
Tunable Diode Laser Gas Sensors are typically in situ sensors that take advantage of robust and mature telecom components in order to offer high precision, high accuracy, and highly selective detection of trace gases with application to a variety of commercial, industrial, defense and environmental problems. PSI has also pioneered the application of TDL sensing to measurements of temperature, pressure, velocity, and mass flux.
LIDAR System
Lidar systems are active remote sensing systems. Typical systems collect pulsed laser energy scattered from aerosols or gas molecules to monitor atmospheric properties such as optical extinction, gas and aerosol concentrations, temperature, and winds.
In-Line Fuel Monitor
The In-Line Fuel Monitor provides real-time measurement of water and particulate contamination levels in fuel distribution systems aboard Navy ships. Qualified for both jet fuel (JP-5) and marine diesel (F-76), the internal laser-based sensing system responds in seconds to changes in the fuel contamination levels, and provides fuel quality reports over the ship’s network to operator control workstations.
CAORI
PSI introduces a new compact, multi-modal, high-resolution, adaptive- optics, retinal imager. This powerful imaging platform is designed for fast, cone-photoreceptor density mapping and precise imaging of other retinal structures (e.g., Retinal Nerve Fiber Layer, retinal vessels and capillaries, etc.).
Noninvasive/Minimally Invasive Diagnostics
OCT, combined with other imaging modalities, provides powerful diagnostic capability for minimally- or non-invasive techniques. See the tools we produce for these applications.

RF and Optical Components

OP-GaAs
We developed wafer-scale processing for the production of a nonlinear optical material called orientation-patterned gallium arsenide (OP-GaAs) and offer for commercial sale QPM frequency converter devices based on this new, high efficiency material.
PPLN
We produce periodically-poled lithium niobate (PPLN) jin two forms: as a bulk crystal with a thickness of up to 1 mm, and as a waveguide device. Bulk PPLN crystals are tailored for the production of tunable mid-infrared radiation through pumping by commonly-available lasers with wavelengths near 1m. Bulk PPLN devices can produce several W of average power between 2 and 4 micron.

Passive Sensors

IDtector
The IDtectorTM is a hand held radiation detection system that implements our DNDO award winning Poisson Clutter Split (PCS) algorithm on the PSI-developed Advanced Processor for Scintillator (APS) board set.
SORDS
The Standoff Radiation Detection System – Trimodal Imager (SORDS-TMI) was originally developed for the Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) by Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems. PSI has performed hardware reliability and algorithm upgrades that have significantly improved SORDS-TMI detection capability from its original configuration. Implementation of PSI’s Poission Clutter Split (PCS) has greatly extended system range while concurrently reducing false alarm rates.
AIRIS
The Adaptive Infrared Imaging Spectroradiometer (AIRIS) has been developed for real-time standoff detection of chemical vapors and biological aerosols as well liquids and solids (such as chemical agents and trace explosive residues) on surfaces.
